Writing for publication
This online course provides psychologists with a comprehensive guide to writing for publication in academic journals, professional magazines, reports and newsletters. On completing this course, participants will be able to respond confidently and effectively to the following questions:
What is the key purpose of the paper?
What is the paper about?
Who is the audience for the paper?
Where is the best place to publish?
How well are the key ideas explained?
These learning outcomes equip psychologists with professional writing tools for a range of audiences and purposes. As well as guiding participants through key elements of good writing, the course provides a comprehensive set of resources (grammar references, online lectures, author guidelines for high-impact journals, referencing conventions and recommended databases). Participants will have the opportunity to workshop their writing, and will continue to have access these resources beyond successful completion of this six-hour online course.
This course is open to all BPS, NZPsS, and APS members, students or affiliates, but is best suited to psychologists with both clinical and (some) research experience. The course provides mentoring in professional writing, to build confidence, to gain editorial insights, and to polish work for publication.
The course fee of $180 (+GST) provides certification of six hours of Continuing Professional Development. Course registration provides unlimited access to resources to support writing for publication.
